Thanks! Indeed, I liked how the glowing greenish-blue hot spring water complemented Ember’s color palette.

Lava was my first thought, but I decided on water when I saw the “hot springs” tag. It certainly worked out in terms of image variance since Ixy chose lava. ^_^

Colorist Death Match!!! Not really though. ;-) I really like Lance’s version as well. His hot spring and highlighting are much prettier than mine. And yes, i do prefer sharper images and warmer tones. I am glad we have the differences though. makes a nice contrast.

well i was going to make a joke about turning it from a friendly competition to a deadly blood feud by ranking the competition, but apparently that’s actually what we’re doing now.
 
in that case, my vote goes to lance. actually the water/lava played a role in my decision too, i prefer cooler colors so the lovely blues lance used in the water definitely helped. also even where you both used cool colors, lance’s are even cooler? like, the wings used the same basic color scheme, but yours are sharper and bolder to lance’s softer and more understated use. overall, i just prefer the gentler coloring lance did. yours is good, but lance takes my point.
 
also, if you two murder each other over this ‘friendly competition’, remember to record it.
