But this is meant to be a casual game to be picked up and put down on occasion.
 
These events force you to play the game 24/7 with no breaks to even have a chance at placing somewhere good. But most people don’t have that kind of time between working, school, or other activities.
 
Which is how they force people to either pay or lose.

This style of event they’ve been using is definitely obnoxiously manipulative and greedy, but it was possible to complete it without cheating or spending real money. I’ve never spent even 1 cent on this game, but I ended the event at rank 60-something. The only gems I had to spend were 60 for the shop that enabled completing the task for Liza Doolots, and then another 50 or so gems for skipping the timer a few times during the last stage, because I was at 45/50 as the event was ending, since it was only giving me the item 1/3 of the time the last day.
 
It did, however, require far too much time and concentration, since it pretty much forces you to check the game every 1/2 hour or so for about a week. I’m not even going to try to finish this style of event again, really not worth it.
 
Also, sometimes I think I’m going to uninstall the game outright if I get sucked into the damn popup ad for bottled water one more time. That thing blocks the screen about 50 times a day, always right when you’re tapping something, then it pretends you tapped on the ad instead, even when it wasn’t even there when you touched the screen. (…Why am I still playing this game?)

When I played the Gameloft game, that technical problem caused Pinkie to walk around with her eyes closed, as if she was sleepwalking.

Yep. I know. I have only barely started on the 3rd of the ponies in the event… probably won’t manage to get him, but whatever.
 
I have also completely given up on collecting the emblems as well. Going from ~rank 950 to under rank 1200 after 1 night and the top people obviously either shoveling loads of cash to Gameloft or managing to cheat just completely ruin the event for everyone.

Oh, I see. I didn’t consider that. I did see that he had a large amount of gems (but those could have been accumulated over the years).
