Bamf of the year right here.
Considering they REALLY want to go for a Rim crossover with Godzilla at some point, I’d find it to be the most viable.
Heck, Red Alone could start off looking like this:
Obviously suped up, and when damaged and the pilot killed, during the repairs, he reshapes himself to look like his usual robotic self we’re familiar with.
And JJ can be a badass in his own right. Heck, in some of the latest comics, JJ killed Orga in two pages, and then, while fighting Destroyah with Kiryu, Kiryu was disabled, so JJ flew in, did repairs, and MANUALLY piloted Kiryu to destroy Destroyah with the Absolute Zero Cannon.
I guess that makes sense.
Considering the Rift war was kinda a massive impact on the world, it’s safe to stake a guess that Godzilla was just off the radar (could have been in an iceberg, he does that at times). When he wakes up, we dig up the old legends of the mythical sea dragon, but find that he doesn’t work like a “living creature”, like the DaiKaiju the aliens are sending through as, while they are constructs, they are still biologically functional and obey the rules of a living creature. Godzilla doesn’t need to, and even when you finally logically make Godzilla “as real as possible’, it’s more horrific than anyone can imagine and more alien than one would expect.
Shin Godzilla gets the creature right in the most literal sense in that it’s more of a “thing” than any comprehensive life form we know of and Godzilla would be a horrifying enigma just as much to the aliens as he is to humans.
This is what sends the aliens into overdrive for a while, drastically speeding up the arms race as they keep trying to make monsters to beat Godzilla and it is just NOT working, he towers over most of them and his healing factor and ultra persistent fighting style offers no retreat. Add to it that Godzilla, regardless of version, learns how to fight his foes. Eventually the aliens start creating monsters with explicit orders to AVOID Godzilla at all costs, which leads to the Jeagers finally seeing battle but then it’s a clustertruck as some of the Jeagers are instantly outclassed, while other Jeagers are doing the same in reverse. During this mess is when Red Alone gets damaged and the human pilot killed, but the AI takes the full load, corrupts, and still functions, but works on it’s own and, as I stated, speed and an auto repair function along with martial arts makes him an insane candidate for beating MOST of the kaiju.
Then the aliens just throw caution to the wind and combine machinery with a kaiju in a bid to just end it all, resulting in JJ and Godzilla being the ones to hold the line against the cyborg menace.
As for Mechagodzilla, as I said, lots of kaiju bones have been left over and due to them hurrying up and making jeagers, they used the bones as a frame. I would find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t go about making a Jeager with a saurian shape, or even a mechanical gorilla over the remains of Leatherback.
That’s… actually a good way to tie in Jet Jaguar with the Pacific Rim universe. Also, makes me wonder how MechaGodzilla could be thrown into the mix and how Godzilla has gone unnoticed since 2013 in this universe.
Hell yah
I’m only interested in Pacific rim if it eventually crosses over with Godzilla.
>rift aliens re-open the portal
>start sending monsters through again
>humanity is scared stiff and totally not ready
>monsters don’t make landfall
>they accidentally came across Godzilla and he’s territorial as hell
>one sided slaughter
>humans start making Jeagers again
>but due to hurrying up, make combinatons with monster bones as the frames
>results in mechas looking like monsters
>technology also got better
>make a prototype Jeager with an AI that can handle the other half of a load and possibly full load
>codename: Red Alone, to symbolize how it could handle the load on it’s own, but also how it only needs one pilot.
>battles take place
>monsters keep coming out better equipped because Godzilla keeps stomping them when they get near him
>jeagers also try to keep Godzilla away from cities
>in the mess, Red Alone gets badly damaged
>pilot is ded
>system tries to handle the full load
>memories of the dead pilot flood it’s databanks
>remembers two of the favorite things the human liked
>always wanted to be a jet pilot
>used to play on a school football team called the jaguars
>Re-names it’s self Jet Jaguar and bolsters a corrupted system where it believes it’s alive
>while not the most offensively equipped Jeager, makes up for it in insanely fast reflexes and movement, as well as a strange ability to “heal” it’s self
>ends up judging that Godzilla has it right: hold the line and show the opponent no mercy
>aliens get fed up and send through a cyborg monster
>JJ and Godzilla team up to take it down
>aliens call it a day
>Godzilla goes to bed
>JJ goes back to base and goes to “sleep”, ready for when the fighting starts again
A guy can dream.
Speaking of which, you looking forward to Pacific Rim: Uprising?

This is true.
I mean, the concept is nice.
We’ll have to wait and see, and if it’s a disappointment, well, we’ve got other movies coming out to enjoy anyway.
The amount of books talking about it are numerous, really, even if they aren’t all Godzilla.
The limitations of the live action films gives a sense of reality. While I’m sure the animation will be good, I don’t see how it’ll be anything “eyecatching”.
But it also removes some of the limitations of suitmation. Don’t get me wrong, I like seeing practical effects as much as the next guy, but I’d like to see something where Godzilla has more movement. With this film, we’re gonna get something that hasn’t been seen in official film. (Yes, I said “official”. The whole “Kaiju taking over the Earth post-humanity” plot has been done in the Godzilla x Kaiju Killer [a fan film] and Godzilla Cataclysm [a comic book].)
I’m not surprised, actually. Part of the splendor of Godzilla films is in fact the tokatsu film style. Even with the use of CGI in Shin Godzilla, they stilled used a LOT of practical effect sets and tricks.
Part of the reluctance to make it anime is also the fact that, in anime, anything can be done and what takes place in, say, a godzilla film is easy as heck to make in an animated movie, leaving a lot to be desired in terms of splendor or “finally seeing the monster”.
I’m a long time G fan (since the mid 90’s) but i’m not interested in the anime films.
I know right?
No, they still have GVK set for 2020, it’s just on Memorial Day.
The 2020 date for “G vs Kong” was back when they had Garreth on the crew and were planning on doing the movie STAT. I’d imagine it’s been pushed back rather firmly. But now that they got the Krampus director on hand, I’m pretty sure we’re gonna have some practical effects and a lot more daytime scenes for the monsters.
Not just that, but an entire trilogy of anime Godzilla films.
Especially we have to wait until 2019 to see the sequel to 2014 and 2020 to see Godzilla vs. Kong.
I thought the 1998 animated Godzilla series was pretty good.
Way better than the movie that spawned it anyway.
Animated “things” involving godzilla.
Which ones? Are you talking about the posters?
