As far as I know, Fluttershy's the only non-Earth Pony that is said to be good with animals; or some form of taking care of them aside from pets.
After all, in Bridle Gossip, they said that animals taking care of themselves was unnatural, so somepony has to be taking care of them, and not just Fluttershy.
That's why I think Earth Ponies are also in charge of taking care of the animals.
