Bright blues, reds, and greens are more often associated with birds and reptiles, at least in real life. Of which, dog colours are based upon. ^_^

Well you could have stick with the African dog colours because their fur colours work quite well for MLP standards.  
Also it seems that you forgot to give him the coloration in his scleras since that is like their key feature:  
 
Also, I forgot tell you that his iris has the same color of his fur, so you might as well fix that since it makes both merge at plain sight, a bright color could do nicely.  
It could help to draw attention to them.  
Overall you have a decent diamond dog OC and I will like to see more of him.

That’s fair. I was inspired by both Blue Heeler dogs and African Wild Dogs when it came to the colours and patterns and added a bit of MLP when it came to how blue he is. Occasionally I feel it’s a tad much myself, but I still like it :D

His physical design looks pretty well since he actually looks like a diamond dog, but I’m not digging that colour scheme, a little bit too much for a diamond dog.

I’m that guy too. It took a fair amount of poking around to find an artist who’s first response wasn’t ‘anthro dog’.
 
As for the tusks, my head canon is that it’s a puberty thing. His hasn’t grown in yet.

I was about to be ‘that guy’ who complain about diamond dog OC’s not being true diamond dogs based on their physical appearance, but when I saw the other art about Janga in where he has the bipedal, gorilla posture with large arms, large paws that will be able to dig the earth for gems and a club-like tail, then I nod and said “Alright, I’m sold.”
 
 
Eventhough he lacks a solid built jaw that will be able to take a good right-hook plus protruding teeth/tusks, but again I guess lacking that feature is just fine.
