I’m convinced Derpy is a Princess Twilight fan girl.
I’ve wondered about Dash’s growing workload, myself. I don’t think she’s ever quit being captain of the Ponyville weather team, AND the castle map sends her out on missions besides!
My guess is that it will never be addressed until the writers decide there’s a decent story involved.
Heh, perhaps ‘cause this is a Friendship Festival of sorts, she’s instead a representative of Twilight’s posse. One’d think with two increasingly prominent titles, her head would’ve grown within the past year-ish. XD
I can see her cosplaying as Twilight more than the other princesses because she did know her when she was just a unicorn.

I haven’t seen many other ponies cosplaying as one of the Monarchs just for fun, and she’s only been seen wearing items that suggest Twilight.
I’m sure most ponies approve of their monarchy, but there’s a difference between approving of your leadership and dressing up as them.
Besides, Derpy-as-fanpony is a fun idea.
I mean, you’d have to be a pretty terrible citizen if you don’t like your own monarch.
