“Not completely true, it’s 5 per “character”(that’s counting transparency) but you can have a signal “sprite” made of 2 “characters””
In response to that NES can only handle 4 colors per sprite. Either it can handle 4 colors including transparency or 7 colors if you nest two sprites.
You just now, in all three of the comments there, said what I did back with the image….
So, they draw his head (without a face) and body using several sprites. On top of those sprites, they draw his face using a sprite or two. Thus, it looks like more than three colours, but they’re actually layering multiple sprites with different palettes.”
No it is, I said it was five counting the transparency, Megaman’s body is black, blue, light blue, and transparent(x2), the face is white, black, tan, and transparent(x2).
Then after that you have to play through the whole game again (only with faster-moving enemies, and buzzy beetles replacing goombas making it a li’l harder) in order to rescue Luna.
Still not true. It really is 4 colors per sprite, usually represented by red, white, blue and black.
its all a conspiracy to overthrow a legitimate ruler and assert her tyranny
Not completely true, it’s 5 per “character”(that’s counting transparency) but you can have a signal “sprite” made of 2 “characters”.
Case in point, Megaman is cut into body and face.
You can easily just nest two sprites to get 6 colors per sprite. It’s how the bosses are done in the megaman games.
Seems funny. Adventure ponies technically don’t fit into 8 bit as the NES can only handle four colors including transparency for a sprite
The more you know!
