Given the episode, Starlight should consider herself fortunate that she was omitted. Or they’ll be all like “Your reformation is too unrealistic. You tried to deny ponies individuality.” But hopefully, they’ll all be too busy wondering why the books were written in script formats and who the hell ‘Hasbro’ is.

I imagine after being converted to “Friendship,” Starlight would see such a book as an “old shame” of her’s. (And Spike or Trixie would constantly mention it.)

She did publish her own book/manifesto. Das Cutietal is still read by edgy college foals and slackers who don’t realize its ideas never work out the way the book implied, and have been proven to be garbage in the real world. Proven many times over, each with results more horrible than the last. Eventually they get real jobs and wake up to the real world of colorful ponies working for a living, or die of a drug overdose. Or inherit lots of bits and pretend that the failure of a trust fund heir to starve to death somehow proves their childish ideas were right.

You’d be surprised how many aren’t when they make similar remarks. Heck, some still say Twilight is a “spotlight stealing Mary-Su,” despite the fact she’s always been practically the main character, has flaws, and honestly she’s had less, and less screentime after the second or third season.

Don’t forget her control issues like when she met Big Mac for the first time, or cast spells on her friends that backfired. Or when she started to panic over helping the royal princess sisters.

True, none of them have tried to destroy another pony’s life out of spite, or brainwashed a town (on purpose, anyway). Starlight has her own flaws, unique to her. And that’s okay.

Yeah, but Meghan McCarthy was still the story editor for Cutie Re-Mark. And she was also a co-writer for The Cutie Map.
 
Also, I still honestly believe that they were planning on reforming Starlight from the start, they just hadn’t worked out the details yet.

Even then, he only wrote the script for the episode. Writers do not decide an episode’s premise, so it is highly unlikely that reforming starlight was josh’s decision.
