Honeycrisp walked through the orchards of Sweet Apple Acres, searching and calling out for her brother. “Discovery! Where are ya? Yer late fer supper!” After awhile, she concluded that he wasn’t around and decided to look somewhere else. However, upon turning a corner she finally found him…but he wasn’t alone.
 
Somerset Sour Cuder was nestled sweetly in their brothers arms, giving Discovery their usual puppy dog eyes and lip quiver. “Big Brother…Ah was tryin’ ta buck an apple off tha tree but Ah hurt my hind legs! Ah’m sorry ah caused so much trouble and made ya late ta supper.”
 
Discovery cooed over Somerset, running a comforting hoof through their mane. “It’s okay, supper can wait. Ah just want ta make sure yer alright.”
 
Honeycrisp glared indignantly at the two. “What in tarnation? Y’all really believe that hooey? C’mon Discovery, Som ain’t really hurt.”
 
Honeycrisp caught Somerset’s eye as she walked towards them; even through their puffy curls it was clear Somer was shooting her a death glare that Discovery couldn’t see. Discovery coddled Somer, an insulted expression on his face. “Sis, Ah cant believe you! Ah reckon you need to get yer heart checked, how could ya accuse mah lil cider float of telling lies?”
 
Honey scoffed. “Ya really can’t see that? That ‘lil cider float’ of yers is a good-fer-nothin’ liar! Always has been and always will! Ah mean, look at ‘em! If that ain’t the face of a liar Ah don’t know what is!” She gestured towards Somerset, who was smirking mockingly at her.
 
Discovery looked back at Somerset who immediately changed their expression to make it look like they were tearing up. They cuddled into his arms and began to whimper. “B-big brother…why doesn’t s-sissy like me? I-I jus’ wan’ her ta love me…”
 
Discovery cooed and showered Somer’s forehead with kisses.“Ah’ll be right back so Ah can git you some bandages an’ so Honey can apologize!”
 
“What? Ah ain’t apologizing ta them!” Honey was completely appalled. “Ah’m coming with you! Then Ah won’t be late fer supper either!”  
Discovery huffed and stomped his hooves on the ground, stopping Honey from following him while he rushed inside to get a first aid kit. Somer sat up and smirked, clearing their throat. “Nice try. Don’tcha know there’s so many other things ya could’ve pointed out? Then again you’d struggle ta pour water out of a boot with the instructions on the heel.”
 
Honeycrisp stamped her hoof on the ground. “Why you…How does anypony in this family tolerate you?”
 
“Because Ah’m intelligent and strategic…helps that Ah’m as cute as a blue ribbon calf.” Somer strolled circles around their sister, having the perfect response planned for if Discovery caught them walking on their injured legs.
 
Discovery galloped up to Somerset, a first aid kit hanging from his mouth.  
“Discovery! Look! They’re fine, it’s all a lie!” Honey pointed at Somerset, who had been walking just fine a mere moment earlier.
 
Somerset toddled over to their brother, their steps wobbly and lopsided. “Ah was tryin’ ta be brave and strong like you and walk it off!” Somer whimpered as they fell at Discovery’s hooves.
 
“Ugh!” Honey groaned in exasperation. “They were walkin’ just fine a minute ago! Ah saw! Don’t believe ‘em!” She began trotting back towards the farmhouse. “Ah’m gonna go have supper with Pa, Sugar Belle, and Aunt AJ. At least THEY can tell a lie from the truth better than you can!”
 
Discovery trotted past her with Somerset on his back. They leaned in to whisper into Honeycrisp’s ear, “No wonder yer as pink as a flamingo…yer story is mighty fishy.”
