That’s right. That’s because the poor box office performance bombing of failure has caused the sequel to the film to be cancelled. However, as of December, 2021, their were Six concept arts made by Boulder Media that were concept arts of either the cancelled sequel film or one of the early drafts of the 2017 movie.

Yeah. Well, they could have use the Elements of Harmony to defeat the Storm King and his army. I guess they kinda forgot about the Elements in the film and the film could have had Celestia told Twilight to get the Elements and use them to defeat the Storm King and his minions before telling Luna to seek help from Queen Novo before being petrified by Tempest. And yes, of course, the Mane Six didn’t use the Elements of Harmony to defeat the Storm King and his Storm Army in the movie. The Mane Six also didn’t use the Elements to defeat Queen Chrysalis and the changelings in the season two finale “A Canterlot Wedding” since the changelings blocked the entrance of Canterlot Tower which contains the Elements inside it or in the tie-in comics The Return of Queen Chrysalis and Guardians of Harmony or when they get captured by Queen Chrysalis and the changelings in the season six finale “To Where And Back Again”. Nor in the season three premiere “The Crystal Empire” when they along with the Crystal Empire population use the Crystal Heart to defeat King Sombra since he didn’t receive a single scratch in the season nine premiere “The Beginning of the End”. Nor in the season four finale “Twilight’s Kingdom” while fighting Lord Tirek because they used Rainbow Power to defeat and re-imprison him back to Tartarus. Nor in the season eight finale “School Raze” because Cozy Glow tries to vanish all magic of Equestria and possibly used them to rule Equestria. Twilight even didn’t use them in Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks while trying to free CHS from the Dazzling’s control.

You mean Rainbow Roadtrip? That special was set between the first and second half of the show’s ninth and final season. But the animation looks very similar to the movie’s animation. But this special is all 2D like the tv show.

I wouldn’t have minded that they could include a transformation sequence, that would have been cool. Hopefully they’re gonna do it in the possible sequel.

Old post, but I’m super glad they didn’t do that.. the “Rainbow Power” forms of the mane 6 were really cool to see but felt like too much of a promotional move to sell merchandise. Plus the massive floating hair that came with the designs was annoyingly “super saiyan” feeling.  
BUT I am really glad to have art like this to enjoy from the concept being scrapped! Angela has such a beautiful and unique style, almost storybook whimsical. <3

I thought they said it was because they wanted to do it in the show? Well, maybe the super form was a super early idea that was used in Season 4, and the writers tried giving context by using the Storm King?

Guys, no more. Just wait until the movie comes out, okay?

I do wish they kept it at least somehow, I personally think these designs are so pretty compared to the rainbow power.

For reference, this was supposed to be part of the original ending where the mane six get a new power to stop the Storm King, but that was scrapped because it’s been done before. So no super toyetic rainbow power ending.
