Gambesons were considered ‘not armour’ by a lot of the more advanced forces that they fought with. If you read the wikipedia page (Which is always suspect, because there is a wealth of misinformation) it has a carving of a ‘berzerker’ in a gambeson, mentions their shields and spears. As well, if you read a bit deeper, you’ll see mention of these ‘berzerkers’ a) wearing pelts b) Ingesting drugs and mass amount of alcohol and c) being a ‘state’ in which manual labour was done. The existence of Berzerkers is documented, but as it is with the Scmitar, a weapon that never actually existed like we see it in media, are completely mis-understood.
 
Again going back to the Maori, a people I liken to the ancient Norse a lot, yelling and war-song were huge parts of their culture. I myself have been able to take part in festivals in where elders teach shield wall screams, in which spears and shields are rattled in a shield wall and those behind it make terrifying yells to demoralize the enemy. Side note however, there was no gods in the Pantheon of Allfather that pushed for Frenzy. You have to be careful, as much of the Poetic Edda people get their lore from was written after the northern Christian Crusade, in which people were forcibly converted and their gods were mocked and dragged through the dirt. Thor Odinsson especially got bad treatment.
 
Picts as well were not Celts, they were enemies of the ‘Celtae’ who lived in the north of Scotland, before the time there were formally ‘Celts’, just the Goidelic tribes of the Celtae. This was during the time Rome was knocking on their doors, as well, and some documentation exists of Rome trying to ally with the neandrathal tattoo warriors to fight the Celtae tribes.

My knowledge of history may be rusty sometimes, and I also knew that not all “berserkers” fought naked (what kind of warrior from Northern Europe would go around naked without losing his honour?) – I heard of Norsemen who fought naked from an article online about warriors who entered into a trance to fight with Odin’s frenzy.
 
I might had also heard somewhere about Celtish Picts who charged into battle naked (and also somewhere from a strategy video game involving “Celtic fanatics” who fought their enemies with no clothes on).

Danes, Vikings, and other Norse warriors did not in fact fight naked. This would be silly and dangerous, and none of them were stupid or militaristically backwards. They were sailors as well as raiders, falling in those waters naked would have been suicide. They traditionally wore gambesons, with the rich and elite wearing chain. There were also no ‘berzerkers’, the style of fighting they took part in was and still is very aggressive to capitalize on the large builds they found they had relative to those they fought and raided. Such as taking two spears and launching them with both hands. If you’re looking for people who fought naked you’d been looking at the Picts, Maori, and even East Indian Bagh nakh ‘boxers’ if you could count those. They only ever fought each other for sport, while incredibly high, until they both bled to death.

Again, I like explaining about whether do things work. At least AJ would not be alone, but in history there were warriors from primitive tribes who fought their enemies naked (e.g. some Norse berserkers)

I find it hilarious that the discourse all through these comments were kinda the reason Sundown got into the mood to draw these. Rather, someone posted the bikini armour is sexist post. Of course it’s not practical. Crotchless panties defeat the purpose of panties, but they’re still worn as panties. Ffs

Obviously, the belly and the intestines are a weaker spot of a warrior, but a stab in the heart or the brain will bring a quicker death.
 
However, considering that this warrior has bigger breasts, would they make it more difficult for her (like a built-in “breast”-plate of flesh) to get impaled by a blade, or would they be soft to be an ineffective defense?

I think there might actually be an insidious, ingenius type of logic to female video game armor. Consider:

Suddenly, through your haze of terrified bloodlust, you are confronted with THIS shit lmao, this absurd paragon of femininity epitomizing everything you as a male are biologically and socially conditioned to want to protect and fuck lol.
 
Even in the middle of gruesome combat, how many men would sincerely have no scruples whatsoever with thoughtlessly attacking and killing someone who looked like AJ does here? XD

Naked warriors did exist, but perhaps they can be really attractive to modern audiences. And it is not just because they look “wild and free”, but it has something to do with what warriors did not show in the battlefield that they did show.

Unless her skin is as tough as steel, or she uses her scant armour to show off her body to distract enemies (and her fellow troops), I do not think this kind of armour could work in a real fight.
 
She would as well fight like those naked fanatics and warriors in some barbarian armies in ancient times.
