And the thing is, Simpsons and Family Guy still have funny moments (god I’m late to this thread), so it’s hard for me to say that a show should end for good when there still may be good material left. That and ponies are life so I don’t wanna think about an ending.
Fair point.
Well to be fair, if there’s a real Shutter Bug, maybe she’s a lot different than how Chrysalis is acting.
I always thought that Season 4 should had been the MLP final season because epsiodes were connected to one episode, now that Hasbro is looking for EQG only I’m thinking that Season 8 is really the last season.
Bear in mind that people have been saying that about every season for years, now.
As I understand it, each season finale is written as if it were the last episode of the show. So if one particular season finale feels “final”, it’s by design.
Last I heard, the original planned ending of the show was the Season 3 finale, so it could reach the 65 episodes for syndication. Now, though, I have no idea.
@Serious B
>keeps the mane 6 and their personalities and interactions very much in line with the earlier season
You haven’t seen Confalone’s episodes, have you?
How do you imagine a 4.5 generation MLP?
FiM will be over. Afterwards, plans to pre-pro another cartoon will begin a few years hence. In addition, the series finales of the cartoons don’t necessarily affect whether a generation ends; Tales, 3.5. Meaning anything can happen post-FiM to G4 of the franchise. MLP High School, MLP in the Matrix, MLP Xenoblade, et cetera. :3
That is the reason why I want to MLP finalizing, once MLP is over they should start working in that EQG series.
For another season…
Which probably is the reason why the later seasons feel different than the early ones - the mane 6 are fighting less and less among themselves, as they seem to have this whole friendship business figured out.
She’s finally mastered this whole acting thing.
It seems unicorns are the only ones who can do anything these days…
I wouldn’t call myself a Faust-purist (“There are no seasons past 3!”), but more that there’s clearly a different tone and pace. It’s still good, but in a different way. In comparison to the Simpsons, it too around S8 started changing, and S8-9-10 weren’t bad, but then S11 clearly shifted major gears in continuation of that direction. But that also was due to a massive shift in written staff (nearly a full replacement, not just one or two switches each year). MLP at least has been a slow rotation to help that.
So far the show as only gotten better imo, so im not worried about that.
Oh, I doubt it will.
It’ll probably happen in season 8’s finale
You also need to remember that this sells toys. An extended cast = more toys.
The show is starting to head towards the Simpsons problem, where stories have started diverging off the main cast. That said, I have no problem with Starlight, Trixie, Ember, and Thorax gaining more presence as sort of an extended cast in how they’ve handled it in S7 so far. Taking “Fame or Misfortune” to heart, there ‘‘is’’ only so much you can do with the Mane 6 without introducing other characters and adding world building, otherwise you just rehash the same lessons over and over.
It would definitely be critically best to end the show at a high note than let it fall as Simpsons have done, but keep in mind that for Hasbro, as long as the show drives toys, it is a financially viable decision to let it run.
I think Sombra will be the main antagonist in season 7 finale.
