So in my Next Gen Universe, Twilight is no longer friends with her childhood friend Moondancer. Why? Twilight kept up with Moondancer through letters and occasional visits after “Amending Fences” but soon began forgetting about her old friends and even visits, either to study or spend time with her Ponyville friends. It wasn’t malicious, but it still hurt Moondancer deeply. She confronted Twilight and they had an ugly fight where Moondancer swore off their friendship forever and made points to call her unfit to be the Princess of Friendship and that a snail would be a better choice.

Twilight tried to apologize and even became obsessed for a while with getting Moondancer to be her friend again, but she was having none of it. Even Twilight’s Ponyville friends tried to help but eventually, they were forced to leave her alone when she started getting particularly angry and vicious. Moondancer does have to thank Twilight though, she met her wife Trixie in a bar while drunk where they both discovered they shared a hatred for her and started a friendship that eventually turned to romance.
