To a comment posted some three years prior, you may or may not have already seen the screencap below. But nonetheless:
 

Fireworks are essentially bombs anyway. Once we got to a relatively peaceful era three hundred-ish years ago, we decided to add other minerals and chemicals to make the explosions rainbow-coloured. Actually, did Chinese and Japanese fireworks have colours already, or did Americans add colours? <w<

Raw power? Probably, but control is also useful. I’m also pretty sure that Tempest can’t channel spells, and can only unleash bursts of magic, so the ‘fireworks’ were probably that ‘blast’ of magic being thrown around by the previous explosion.
 
That or it was just done because it looked good.

They didn’t really look much like fireworks though. That’s obviously what it was meant to emulate, but they looked more like pure energy explosions, which, if you were looking at the screen while it was happening (sorry if that sounds rude, not trying, it’s just 1 in the morning and I can’t find the right words) you could see they were zipping back and forth. That means it was either constantly being channeled, which we know is very difficult from the flashback we had seen, or it was one spell that was ongoing. I haven’t seen the comics, but I think tempest would even beat out Glim Glam in raw power.

Given what she says at the end of the film, I feel it’s likely that her cutie mark looks like fireworks or somesuch.  
Since that’s what she implies she’s “really capable of”.

it just hit me, she might be a blank flank. i don’t think we’ve seen her flank, even in the comics she’s covered up

Ironically enough, what happens to her horn with the Ursa makes it “Fizzlepop”, indeed.

They start out so cute, then something bad happens to them. And the next thing you know, they’re second-in-command to a very dangerous (though oddly humorous) villain.
