This all just raises the question of why there isn’t a failsafe to ensure you don’t accidentally banish the original when you’re mowing down the clones.

I was thinking that if it hits a real pony, it would just make them explode. (What a horrible way for Dashie to go.)
 
Or at the very least, make them very injured by puffing them up. I mean she wouldn’t be able to see straight for weeks.

Or maybe it only sends clones back to the mirror universe, but it kills any real ponies.
 
Of course, that is still not a happy thought. I’m just giving an alternate interpretation.

@BP It implied killing. Especially when there was a risk of hitting the real Pinkie with something just as bad as being killed. Twilight had no second thoughts before blasting any Pinkie even if they did as little as a twitch. The scene where Twilight blew her overheated horn almost implied that she was blowing smoke away as if she fired a revolver.

Before? We had Twilight doing black magic.  
But we’re past that point, now.
 
40 Pinkies and 1 Twilight with a magic shotgun walk into a room.  
Only 1 Pinkie comes out.
 
I had such high expectations for various characters in Season 3. Now? Buck Trixie. And Derpy and Luna and Celestia and Pinkie.  
I just want to see Twi slide further and further along that slippery slope.

Maybe it can harm only something that has been into the pond before. Therefore the real Pinkie could get hurt even though she wasn’t only a clone. Therefore the spell wouild be lethal to her.
