For this to be possible, one of the following needs to be true:


 
1) The speed of light in Equestria is a LOT higher than in the real world.
 
2) The Sun and Moon aren't heavenly bodies at all. The Sun isn't a star, and the Moon isn't a rock. They're both very small and very close to the planet, so they appear to move instantly when the Storm King tells them to.
 
3) The Sun and Moon we see here literally don't exist and they're just an illusion projected onto a huge magic dome by the unicorns to give themselves some power over earth ponies and pegasi back in the day. Outside of that dome, the sun and moon are real and behave normally.
 
Actually, the sun and moon would literally be torn apart from their own inertia if someone did this; they're heavy-ass heavenly objects. So I guess #1 is ruled out. Perhaps they are just illusions, after all.
