The Hippogriffs are the sea ponies. Or, more correctly, the sea ponies are the hippogriffs. The hippogriffs have a pearl that can transform creatures into other creatures. Queen Novo turned herself, her daughter, Skystar, and the rest of the Hippogriffs into sea ponies to hide her people and her pearl from the Storm King.
But apparently not. Unless Novo’s ruling the seaponies and Skystar’s ruling the hippogriffs.
