The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@BP: Yeah, Sari Sumdac’s Indian. Her father (also Indian, of course) is also voiced by a white VA (Tom Kenny, you’ve probably heard of him).

The point, however, is that character race can have jack-all to do with voice actor race. After all, they’re only lending their voice, not their entire identity.

Now excuse me while I bleed out from my gunshot wound in the corner.

Who says the Transformer girl is Black? She looks Indian or some other dark skinned, non-African race.

It seems like if someone expresses distain at use of the word “faggot,” they’re labeled a “moralfag.”

However, if they play along, they get called out by people who have every right to be offended by a homophobic slur.

You see my dilemma here, BP?

Personally, I’m disgusted by use of “faggot” in “OP is a faggot” memes and how it’s mutated into a catch-all insult on the internet. However, I’m so sick of the “pony race” BS and I caught myself laughing at Yorec’s gif. So shoot me.

Sorry if my posts were long in regarding this issue, but the inane prattle of “humanized ponies should be this color” offends me as a person of color and an artist. I have always been raised to judge an individual based on character and the merits of their actions and to see other artist being scrutinized because they wish color humanized ponies a different ethnic skin tone is ludicrous.

Using a VA ethinicity to justify the skin tone for humanized characters is just really ignorant and insulting to the VA who have provided their talent to characters that NOT their ethinicity OR even gender. They auditioned for the roles and chosen to fill those roles by the voice director because it suited the character, NOT because of their skin tone.

Sorry, for the rant, but it’s one of the things I felt passionately about in learning the roles of making animated films and I call on BS when I see it.

So homophobic slurs are not only acceptable here, but openly praised? :(

I won’t waste any more of my time uploading images for you Neanderthals.

The skin should be left ambiguous to the writer and artist, since their are drawing the art as fans (not being paid nor directed by an art director) they should NOT be scrutinized for the characters’ human skin color. Who the fuck really cares that badly that they have to point out the VA color into play? People should be free to color whatever character they like!

There was controversial discussion on Justice League cartoon when they went with John Stewart instead of Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner. Issue with Marvel on Nick Fury being white in one universe and Black in another to the point that the white is phased out for the more popular Samuel Jackson expy version. The world is diverse and rich of different backgrounds and colors. The various colors of the humanized Mane 6 IMO reflects that diversity and it never made such difference on their friendship or the various personalities and attitudes they bring to the table. When folks learn to embrace that the world or at least fandoms might be a better place.

The elitist attitude needs to be kicked the curb, because right now that mindset shows they are no better than the FEW that messes the Sonic, Transformers, anime and Furry fandoms.

Is it just me or are there more people arguing against the whole “assigning the ponies a certain race” than there are actually discussing it?

Taking away image uploads, of course, since those can be done by one person en masse.

though her “father” was Hindu Indian… But that is besides the point.

Also I missed out for Cree Summers’ VA credits when she was opposite to Tara Strong’s “Princess Clara”:
