soarin carelessly dropped to the ground with a thud. he lifted up his glasses and slowly walked to the mess hall with his head hung low. “you miss her, don’t ya?” a quiet voice sounded behind him, he whirled around to see spitfire looking at him with sympathetic look in her eyes.  
“of course I do” his voice was hoarse, he hadn’t spoken to anyone the entire day, he didn’t need to nor did he want to, “if only she could understand how terrible I feel.”  
the flame coloured mare walked in front of him “well. why don’t you tell her? I understand how she feels though, she has a right to be angry soarin. I don’t know what i’d do if I caught breaburn kissin’ another mare, but, then again its not me its happening to.”  
“don’t you think I want to? I would tell her, I would fall down on my knees in front of her, I would do anything to get back with her. my kids hate me!”  
spitfire raised an eyebrow, “alright, i’ll make you a deal, you go over there and pour your heart out to her. I will keep watch, and if she goes nuts, i’ll escort her away before she can touch you.”  
“its not that simple spitfire!”  
“alright then, captains ORDERS, go over there and talk to her!” a smug smile crept onto her face.  
soarins face twisted with anger “and what if I disobey these ‘orders’?”  
spitfire put a hoof to her face and smiled “you go back into training”  
“WHAT!? YOU CANT DO THAT!!”  
“oh yes. yes I can. now go”  
soarin mumbled to himself and scouted out rainbow. she was walking towards the mares locker room. soarin stood on the training grounds, he took a deep breath and trotted over to her, he stopped a tail length behind her and managed to nervously spout the words “r-rainbow dash?”  
she stopped dead in her tracks, “what do ‘you’ want”  
soarin gulped “rainbow dash please, j-just listen.. please.”  
rainbow turned around to face him, he’d never seen her eyes look so lifeless, they were duller than he remembered. “well, what do you want? come to ruin my life even more? I don’t think that’s possible after what you did ‘before’”  
he took a deep breath “rainbow dash. I am so so deeply sorry. I cannot begin to explain how much pain I’ve been in since, since, well you know…”  
rainbow dash looked away and didn’t answer.  
“… well?…”  
“do you even know how I feel?” rainbowdash suddenly spoke up “every day I get out of bed feeling like shit. I don’t want to get up in the mornings anymore, but I do, because my children need me. my life feels like hell, you will never understand! I hate work, the only pony who understands is thunderlane, hes just as hurt.”  
“I know rainbow! I know because I wake up with skystorm, he hates me! I hate myself! I know I don’t deserve pity because what I did was wrong… but I-I need you dashie, I cant live without you!”  
rainbow’s ears pricked to the sound of the siren signalling for home. “I have to go… spectrum and aquamarine will be finishing school soon. I cant be late…” she sighed to herself and slowly walked back to the locker rooms to change.
