Background/Personality:

Chalcocite Quartz Pie is the second daughter of Starlight Glimmer and Maud Pie. Like her sister Amethyst, Chal was conceived by Maud through the power of a spell and a rock amulet that allowed Starlight to sire a child as a stallion. From childhood, Chal resembled her “Maudma” Maud more than her mother Starlight, resulting in the mare being a little different than her fellow fillies. Chal always showed interest in school, especially in her history and geography classes: sometimes, Chal even corrected the teacher when they got something wrong. Because of her interests plus her almost stoic demeanor, Chal did not have too many friends in school, spending her time either alone or with her cousin Pinni. This did not bother Chal too much since her “Maudma” Maud told her that other ponies simply did not “get her”, once again similar to Maud herself. Chal continued to excel in school, and during the summers would join Maud, Starlight, and her sister Amy on adventurous expeditions to far off places. Chal felt most herself while on these expeditions, especially when she dug away with Maud and found treasures of the past. Chal received her cutie mark from her first find, and since then has been hooked on finding all she could on the cultures of the past. Today, Chal is a student at Canterlot University studying to become an archaeologist.

Chalcocite is incredibly similar to Maud: dry, monotonous, intelligent, and level headed. Chal finds more comfort in digging than in socializing, usually taking her sister Amy to prod her into going out at least once. Despite a plain demeanor, Chal tends to smile more than Maud and will even laugh outwardly.

Relationships:

Although Chal loves both of her mothers, she gravitates towards her “Maudma” much more than Starlight. Between this closeness and Chal’s plain expressions, Starlight sometimes feels left out of her daughter’s world which creates a thin wall between the two, which Chal does not really seem to see.

Chal loves her sister Amethyst like any good sister. Growing up the two only picked on each other based on their fascinations; however both sisters learned, and still learn, from each other, and will accompany the other on their adventures into Equestria. While on these adventures, Chal makes sure Amy does not go too far or crazy because she knows the unicorn will, and something bad might happen.

To no one’s surprise, Chal can only handle so much of the extended Pie family before her energy plummets. During family reunions, Chal prefers to either shadow her Maudma or find a nice quiet place to hide away from the explosive confetti going off for the fifth time.

Although not technically part of the Mane 6 brood, Chal is still friendly with those who are: like Amy, Chal she sees them as “honorary cousins”. Chal prefers to converse with Pinni when they get together. Surprisingly, Feather Dart is a welcomed companion to Chal: Dart’s more laid back attitude and fondness of naps helps Chal be sociable without putting too much effort.

Special:

• Chalcocite Quartz’s cutie mark is a broken vase. The cutie mark symbolizes her talent and passion for archaeology and learning about past cultures. Chal acquired the cutie mark at a young age when Maud brought her on an expedition to the Badlands where she dug up a piece of ceramic from a previous nomadic tribe.
