There was a part in the film where the Grinch as a boy was teased for being hairy. After coming in the next day to school having used his adoptive aunts shaver unsuccessful he gets teased further to the point he flips and runs away.
 
Later as an adult when a little girl asks him to participate in a party in the run up to Christmas he gets a gift from the very guy who started the teasing in the first place, a shaver. This leads to him to flipping again.
 
While not necessarily being teased, tempest would be upset about losing her horn the point where a innocent jibe would hurt her internally.
