Try this, then:
Close your left eye and stare at the X. While doing this, slowly move toward the screen and the O will vanish. It’s because each eye has a tiny little blind spot on it that the other eye compensates for :D

I have too many problems with my eyes for it to work.
I have a hereditary condition where my eyes don’t adjust to light as fast as they would for most people, leaving me somewhat more sensitive to bright lights and my right eye and left eye don’t reach the same level of focus, which is why I can’t use a pair of binoculars.

Staring at it overstimulates the photo receptors in the eyes, causing them to adapt and lose sensitivity. So now when you stare at whiteness, the difference in the under-sensitive cells and the regular ones around them creates an inverted-color image :D
