Certain characterizations of deer. Mary sue: yes, pornographic: yes, proponents deny they’re those sometimes even right under “Celestia submits to toddler-level demands and rape immediately” pictures: yes. And besides those, we’ve at least 2 other pornographic blatant rape fantasy AUs whose patricipants vehemently deny they are in fact blatant rape fantasy AUs.  
…yes, for some reason hypocrites here really enjoy rape (and guro).
 
The rest is accurate.
 
P.S. Also, additional reason for chakat popularity despite all that: some proponents are kids who have only skimmed it and don’t know that chakats are porn mary sues, only seeing a bunch of high quality art and cuddly cat-taurs.

That they are a porn species is the point and are a mary sue race that people try to pass off as not being so is the point. For example they’ll engage in frequent sex with multiple partners and then there’s never any questioning of the resulting children because chakats are special enough to just know their own children with no justifiable reason. Chakat doctors in the setting act like they got their medical degrees over the internet and will engage in what any non sex obsessed person would consider inappropriate touching as well they’ll have no problem with being payed in sexual favors.
 
The fact that writers try to pass them off as not a mary sue porn species and are poorly written is the issue. Even a lot of furries hate chakats. To their fans and writers there a super special race that is magical and superior to everyone else and anyone who doesn’t like them is wrong and/or evil. I don’t have anything against furries, except for maybe the drama and proneness to poor writing, but these things are a species that represent everything wrong with mary sues and one of the worst things the furry fandom has produced. It doesn’t help that you have fans trying to shoehorn them in to communities such as the infamous Chakat/WH40k story and there are multiple examples of people trying to insert these things into other fandoms.
 
I’m fully aware that bronies crossover with things and like to ponify stuff and we can be weird, but we never created a pornographic mary sue race with a community that denies that’s what they are.
 
TVtropes acknowledges they are mary sues despite being generally unbiased about judging works unless it is really bad.

Do you know what the actual, objective problem with incest is? It’s inbreeding - bearing children with overly similar genes multiplies chances for undesirable genetic conditions. A culture with good enough contraception (or genetic engineering) will thus only have subjective objections like “relatives having sex is BADWRONG!”.

Chakats… ugh.
 
These things are mary sues and the official backstory for them is that were genetically engineered. It makes some sense to make half animal people since you could get some useful traits, but why the hell would anyone intentionally engineer a taur? The taur form is plain inefficient and impractical compared with a biped/quadruped body plan, the biggest issues are that it takes up more room, is cumbersome, and uses more energy. It just makes me think the engineers were either thinking with their dicks (chakats are a hermaphroditic furry fantasy) or did not really put a lot of thought into the practicality of what they were making.
 
Also these things, culturally, see no problem with incest. They are a poorly written porn species. The setting they were made for is a rip off of Star Trek too.
