Looking at the full resolution now, yeah it does resemble Starlight’s star, just colored to match Twilight’s color.
 
Much like the rest of her actually. I was hoping this pic would be more than that.

Wrong, Twilight’s “sparkle” is a two-layered six-pointed star, while Starlight’s “glimmer” is also two-layered, but just four-pointed (like a compass rose). The star on Starlight’s mark is still the same; if anything actually changed, it’s the color (the wisps besides the star are no longer turquoise).
