Okay, so to detail what happened with my introduction to homestuck.
 
first try: got a little bit in, remembered a webcomic I was already following, checked it, got distracted.
 
second try: second verse same as the first.
 
third and fourth tries: got distracted by links in-comic to other comics.
 
fifth try: made it to the beginning of the hiatus arc, got homestucked out for a while, and decided to wait until I heard news hussie was back on the production train to continue reading.

Fluttershy: “Pinkie? Who is this ‘Weird Al’ and why is he singing about Stomping Weasels? I think it’s terrible!”

If you’ve gotten in past the first act and still don’t like it by the time you get to stuff like Jade’s introduction, you’re probably not going to get into it. Just enjoy the music as its own thing. :V
 
Or you could always do the latecomer thing for people who just want to know about the Trolls and try to skip to Act 5, though doing so is definitely not recommended. Its a slow, long read but so much more amazing the further you get in for how much its built ontop of itself. (Literally, with SBURB’s main mechanics beyond time shenanigans and paradoxes)

Every time I look at another dancestor (lol pun) I laugh harder. Second best is Rufioh pawing at the strings. Horuss’s goofy smile and dance almost killed me. 8=D

Shy is mortified at Pinkie’s party music. Kesha, LMFAO and the like.
 
It is my headcanon that Fluttershy listens to Slayer.
