Heeey… Don’t badmouth Babyjack. :P
“Mowe appa fwitters?”
Yeah I know they’re not consistent but it’s still possible that’s kind of what they were thinking but they also don’t want to age-up the other babies. It’s also possible Flurry Heart develops surprisingly faster than other babies - we already know she’s special.
Baby Applejack can go to hell for ruining my theory :v
It may not be true but I’d still like to think of it as true, like something I’d probably do if I were in charge of the show’s canon. To make the newborns UGLI
Edited
They actually aren’t very consistent about that, as Applejack’s birth certificate shows her newborn, but in Flurry Heart’s eye style. Plus, they never implied Flurry was months old in her debut episode. Also, the Cake Twins have got to be a few months older then Flurry, (or even a year) at least, and they still have dot-eyes.

Baby Cakes say hi.
bug-babies
tbh I personally feel that these weird alien creature things are the representation of much younger children - like under a year old, while Flurry was shown to us after at least a few more months of development, so she looks different from other babies. After all, we didn’t even get to see Cadence’s pregnancy. Though that does have a little do with the the way subjects are handled in media like this - it’s censored a little bit of course. Personally I thought it would have been funnier if we saw some stereotypical hangry scenes with preggy cadence mom at least for one or two transition episodes before the big arrival but I can understand why they didn’t wanna do that.
Anyway though – for real, have you seen a newborn baby? Like a one-monther or a 3 month old? The way the human body develops in the first year is surprisingly drastic. If well fed and healthy, you go from this hilariously pathetic little alien-shrimp thing to a slightly less ugly, chubbier but still quite alien creature. It seems subtle but if you really pay attention to early child development, it’s pretty drastic. And there’s different growth spurt years too - a seven-year-old is can be drastically different from a 9-year-old, both mentally and physically. So really I think it’s safe to assume that Flurry’s just a slightly more developed little grub thing while the other babies here are akin to fetuses who escaped from the womb.

@DonMaguz
I actually think the eyes are cuter, and less freaky then those blank, souless, emotionless, black, bottomless, dot-eyes the other baby pones here have.
Oh I’d say those Babies gave a shit…its just that Flurryheart didn’t have to clean it up.

I suppose! Most pony villains don’t have very heinous motivations, after all.
I dunno. I think Flurry would end up the kid who was afraid of hurting people, and became very introverted because of it. I mean, conquer Equestria? She’s already a princess. Get revenge? On who? Herself?
Hm.
Yeah, that suddenly went in a super scary direction! :O
Mmmmm that sort of sounds like a villain’s origin story tho :o
True. It’ll depend on the quality of parenting she gets and whether or not she’ll be taught humility. Beyond that, it’s an argument of nature vs nurture which is a little too meta for my tastes - I mean, psychologists still viciously debate that one. Personally I think we’re the sum of about 80% of our experiences plus 20% hard genetics. But even my idea can’t be universally true - there are plenty of mental disorders that drastically change someone regardless of what kind of person they were or would be prior to their brain damage or even a defect in embryo development. Like true sociopaths. That’s a disorder but it develops or occurs in different ways for different people. For some, it’s just that we don’t grow out of our babyhood in the way that we should. For others, it’s more of a physical matter in that the brain starts out lacking even the necessary tools to have empathy in the first place.
As for the show’s future, I’m actually curious which direction they go. When Flurry’s older, perhaps in g5, she’ll either be an absolute cuttie muffin - like a truly playful spirit and a little angel, or she’ll become diamond tiara and be a spoiled little brat and even an antagonist because LOL HURRRRR IT’S SPOILED PRINCESS UPBRINGING JOKE. I kind of hope they don’t go that direction, honestly - it’d be too easy of a joke and it’d be too unlikable. It’d just be disappointing.

And were Flurry Heart a normal baby pony, she would develop past that. But she’s an Alicorn Princess. The kid is NOT going to have a normal childhood.
That’s not a joke - really. Every single newborn baby is a sociopath. We don’t have a reason to care about others at such a young age. The world revolves around us. Cuz I’M THE BABY GOTTA LOVE ME. And that’s not really a bad thing - it’s just that we hope eventually our children keep developing past that.

They were all sitting around, watching Flurry Heart play with their children like toys, and they were ENCOURAGING her. Because apparently, having your kid used like a plaything by an alicorn princess is a status symbol or something.
This is the mentality that Cadance is up against. As much as she tries to instill proper values in her daughter, every pony parent is going to undermine those lessons at every turn. Flurry Heart is going to get a childhood full of mixed signals, and I doubt if she’ll make it to adulthood and still be normal.
Dude, It’s not about a cartoon character. I like her and she gives me the D’awws.
I am having “crippling depression” (as a figute of speech invented/popularized by Ian “iDubbbz” Carter) because of how the fandom is treating her. People are acting like Flurry is evil and treat it as a joke that pokes fun at the innocent baby trope when isn’t really that funny imo.
But you are right about that though.
Edited
Maybe you, um, need to get some perspective? Because getting “crippling depression” over a cartoon character is kind of really stupid.
