Really, talking to animals is a super power. Not levitation, mind reading, super speed, super strength, shield creation, or explosions. But WOW! you can talk to the Pigeons before you throw bread at them in the park.
 
At least I THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRRRIXIE!!! …. Can play a real instrument; an electric guitar… Not a tambourine, which no band uses anymore and a synth can do now.

She technically might have. I mean, ever since Rainbow Rocks, it seems like the Rainbooms are all just instantly good at anything and everything they try (how they all picked up instruments and played like professionals out of nowhere, the stuff they were suddenly good at in Friendship Games, etc.) unless it’s important to the plot that they not be for a while. Almost as if by magic.  
This is just a guess, but if the magic in the human world works differently and, as we’ve seen time and again, just does whatever it wants, then giving them all these random talents and abilities out of nowhere (like Sci-Twi literally just gaining lock-opening powers on the spot) isn’t unthinkable. If that’s the case, the above chalkboard bragging comes across as entirely straight.
 
However, the show will never, ever acknowledge something like that no matter what the implications are, so as far as strict canon is concerned, I think you’re right. :)
