It’s sick but I laughed.

AJ: “They’re a tad superstitious, as they wanted us to bury this chiselled marble next to that hill to appease the land-wights, so they can help the executives have more profits. We, too, respect land-wights, but we also are glad for the scenery – it’s a break from our tiring work in the studio.”
 
Shimmer: “Maybe we should pray at the shrine instead. It’s not that far.”
 
RD: “Or, keep moving? I’d sure enjoy some fresh exercise and air to keep my legs robust.”
 
TS: (panting) “How long is it until that hill? huff My thin arms are not meant for this … !”
 
AJ: “Come on, Twi. Nine yards isn’t such a big deal – you shouldn’t be spending so much time reading and doing science work.”
 
TS: “Then can you guys help me already?! Especially you, AJ, since you’re the strongest!”
 
AJ: “Only when we bury the tablet and dance for the land-wights, then I can help you. Tradition dictates that everyone involved in the stone-burial ceremony has a specific role that we should stick to. Dash will dig and cover the hole, Sunset will shoot at the air to call the land-wights (we forgot to bring our drum and drumstick), and we two will bury the stone and offer food, drink, and dance using our shovels for the land-wights. The boss chose our roles with just a bobbing-doll after some prayers to the land-wights.”
 
TS: “And what if I change my role?”
 
Shimmer: “Our ceremony fails, the land-wights will not help our business, and we’ll not get richer, but poorer. For making us look for a horrible job if that happens, like serving at some awful ramen restaurant, I might as well set your hairs on fire, to show how angry I’ll be – “
 
AJ: “Enough, Sunset! Why don’t we just cut down the threats, and everything will go smoothly? Besides, the land-wights would not want to see us break into violence before their presence, because all they want is a smooth ceremony, not a barbaric brawl or some ritual murder.”
 
TS: sigh “Then I’ll just play along … “
 
(I honestly thought of Asatru landvaettir and Shinto kami, and a little bit of anime, when I thought that they would be hosting some kind of ceremony here.)
