We’ve seen full body plate armor in the old castle though, which is why it bugs me in the first place
The lack of protection over more then 60% of their body just fails overall outside of making them look nice.
Unless the armor’s enchantments hide chainmail or barding under the false white fur on their body it’s asking to get stabbed, run through wih a spear or get their faces spelled off with the lack of a visor.
They definitely seem more competent against other ponies, but running around in tin soldier armor is a death sentence unless the thing fighting you’s already half-dead or so much weaker/poorly trained to be a non issue to even an unarmored individual.
But I’ve been yelled at enough about talking about this at length so I’m going to stop here. Have a good night/day, whichever applies.
I don’t really think the society portrayed in this comic is 100% accurate to the show. Better this way, more freedom to explore these topics.
Maybe here, the army can be competent (for once).
But what would you expect? They are normal ponies with medieval technology and few have ever taken part on a real war. They might just need to have a chance to shine.
She will, but I’m just pointing out thats how their society works, even to the Guard to a degree judging by the names of the higher ranks being primarily tactic and or military in tone canonnicly.
The guards might/are catching on but anyone using the accept yourself bit is not going to have a good time till someone actually fixes the source of the problem.
Plus in general I find the guards hard to believe competent, the aformentioned scars on Sarge in this comic shouldn’t be possible if their plate armor actually did it’s job.
Well, most of her inferiority complex and hatred for her cutie mark is that she had terrible parents who treat her special talent as the only thing she can ever do (to the point of parody, disencouraging virtually anything else), even though she has proven many times that was definitely not the case.
But still, it’s a freudian excuse. She doesn’t have to be as narrow-minded as her family. And I bet she will get better.
@Spiritus Arcane
>>1527535 mentioned she’s larger than average, and in a comment on >>1531221 I questioned her ability to fit in that bunk
Also I just noticed that Peppermint’s gotten huge. Or Sunlight’s just tiny.
Edited
Getting stuck with something you don’t want due to a society stuck on prophecy is a little more then an issue.
She has a right to be tired of being defined by a colorful little picture on her rump and forcibly held by magic to a standard she doesn’t want to be.
So far everyones been avoiding the problem and screaming “accept yourself” when she doesn’t have a problem with that. It’s everyone forcing an expectation on her because of it.
