My opinion about who is the most terrifying:
The nightmares, The umbrums and the pony of the shadows.
The nightmares take the 3rd place, because they are not so scared, they work well as a team, but without a leader they do not work well.
The pony of the shadows takes the 2nd place … because ?, it is true, he is the first villain where he faces 12 heroes, and has a good background story, but he did not do much in the whole episode. And also he needs a host to maintain his physical form.
And finally, the Umbrums, they take the 1st place, the truth does not need explanation, just look at it !!!, I feel that they would surpass all the villains, one is dangerous, and they work in groups and can block magic, etc.
Well … that’s my opinion, what do you think?

We did? When? I’m pretty sure I would’ve remembered a scene where the Mane 6 purify all the Nyx invading Ponyville and those who remained on the moon.
In the show, Luna states that she watches over the dreams of ponies; which the comics claim is a skill she learned from the Nyx. Ergo, who was watching over the dreams of Luna prior to NMM? The Nyx. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM…..

Nightmarity arc frontloads you with the implication that the NMF corrupted Luna until towards the end when Luna admits that NMM was all her. She was scapegoating the NMF to avoid admitting her own culpability.
The NMM Fiendship issue is more straightforward about it. NMM gets banished and finds the uncorrupted Nyx on the moon. She tricks them into teaching her their tricks until she starts to transform them into the NMF.
Someone needs to gather them all together and form a massive army.

NMM made the NMF, so they don’t show up when NMM is freed?
NMM created the NMF. They were a product of Luna’s corruption, not the other way around.
The Pony of Shadows is a REALLY shallow character (turns out being an asshole to someone makes them angry at you, who knew?) and the Nightmares pretty much ruin Celestia and Luna’s backstory (apparently Luna was possessed so Celestia imprisoned her to live with the beings that were possessing her for 1000 years? Wut?)
