That’s the ideal in my mind.
I would like to see the universe explored as much as the writers and directors want to explore it.
At some point, the people working on the show will probably get tired of working 5-6/8-12 40-72 hours a week on Pony (or part of that time). They’re creative people. They may want to move on to something different.
If that’s the case, then I’d hope that they have in mind how much DHX wants to explore the universe, how much they’d want to leave untold, and give the series a proper ending (e.g., movie, 3 episode finale, series ending season arc.) If Twilight does become Princess of Equestria or something, then I could see that occurring comfortably in 6-8 seasons.
However, depending upon how Hasbro wants to go about it, they may keep the show going for as long as its profitable.
Ideally, I’d want there to be a compromise of sorts. The people working on the show leave at about the same time/begin working more on other shows and they resolve to end the series instead of it just being cut off/cancelled.
And then Hasbro would hire on new talent for G5. Certainly different, but just as inspired and devoted to making the Pony universe a great show. I think they’ll remember what happens when you get a talented team of creators, a great universe that the creators are willing to bring to life, and
a bunch of geeks with too much time on their handsan audience who will be willing to watch anything that’s fun, colorful, and uplifting.Or more simply, Hasbro rides the pony until it’s fairly tired and not completely shot out. And then when G5 comes around, they resolve to make sure that it’s not the same as G4, but it’s just as creative and inspired.
And hopefully that “formula” carries over into other shows.
And hopefully that spreads to other shows and networks who see the success of those shows.
I think I’m rambling a bit, but I think that makes enough sense.
Agreed 100%
If it does end, it’ll most likely be around Season 6 or Season 8 or so, similar to Scrubs.
On topic, I don’t know about American children programing. They seem to come and go pretty quickly. Or in Spongebob and Sonic X’s case, continue to spam reruns till no end.
…But one must wonder: What’s next?
But with cartoon horses
