Ok, so we’ve established the problem ISN’T that Twilight was a kid at the time and didn’t view the relationship the same way, the problem is that Twilight just didn’t know the right terminology :P

technically if dragons need three different things in order to reproduce, you can’t say they have a mother and a father at all. they have to have some kind of weird three-parent terminology. like implanter, incubator and imprinter, idk.

I was thinking more ‘the vast majority of the material was already there in the egg, she only provided her genetic info and a small catalyst’  
For humans, the ‘egg’ is so much bigger than the sperm that it’s fairly pointless to compare them; The mother provides all the kid needs to grow… Except for the genetic variety. The catalyst is presumably just to make sure the process only starts AFTER the extra genes get added.  
So, yeah, Twilight’s Spike’s ‘Father’ :P  
That DOES raise a question, but one with a potential answer: Where did the Y chromosome come from? But if they are one of the ‘inverse’ races, where males have duplicates and females have both, then there’s no paradox.

This has, sort of, been my not-entirely-serious headcannon for dragon eggs too for a while.  
It’s one of few plausible (as far as that word makes sense with magic) explanations for why an egg would hatch depending on magic (rather than, say, time, heat, and other normal biological things)

Okay, Unreliable Narrator Time.
 
We know Spike’s mind is being affected by the shard of Sombra’s horn that fell into his eye. It’s been causing hallucinations–not grand ones, but enough to make Spike question his own memories. Right now we could be seeing this scene through Spike’s distorted POV, so I would take Sunburst’s explanation with a healthy grain of salt.
