Precisely my feelings on the subject.
Then just continue to make more. Only people with limited perspective or an unhealthy grieving response considers the single event of your friends dying bad enough to eliminate all the years or decades of actually being their friend.
She did make more friends, but then they died too, so she made some more friends, but then they died too- so on and so forth until either A) the Princess of Friendship got sick of her friends always dying on her and she gave up trying to befriend mortals, or B) the building grief had ebbed away every last ounce of her sanity.
Judging by her eyes in this pic, I assume it was probably the latter possibility.
