Moony doesn’t know her parents. She was found in a ravine by the Diamond Dogs and raised by them. Blue Moonstone isn’t even her real name, the dogs named her that because she’s blue and has moon scales
After many years of living under the ground, she left the dogs as soon as she was old enough and continued to wander through the cave tunnel systems that had become her home until she met another of her kind while wandering the gem caves and finally revealed herself
She’s on a quest with Tanzanite (Son of Spike and Rarity) to find out who her real parents are and to hopefully get some answers as to why she was left in that ravine
Moony knows the cave tunnels like the back of her hoof but is not so great at finding her way out in the open
It took Moonstone much longer than she cares to admit to learn how to do dragon things, like breathing fire. She was sour at how easy it seemed to come to Tanzanite but eventually she got the hang of it herself and didn’t just billow smoke into the air

Into the later stages of her friendship with Tanzanite the two grew closer and became interested in eachother, as in more than just friends. It took her longer to realize and accept her feelings for him but she finally confessed during one of his dorky (adorable) advances and the two began to date. This eventually over the years led to the birth of their son, Frostbite Diamond.
