Also, yes, I agree. Fluttershy actually starts out as an Earth Pony Named Posey in G1.

Ok, what i’m going to say could sound a bit odd, but i have to write it down: i don’t really dislike the design and i’m happy to see the show will continue (even if i would probably drop the show, not the fandom when the gen 4 ends), but i really don’t know why they choice this style for the new generation.
 
I mean the gen 4 had one feature that gave him potential: it was a god mix between a cartoon and a somewhat realistic fantasy style. I use to play a lot of GDR (not forum RPs or videogames, i mean pen and papers GDRs like Dungeouns and Dragons) and there are a lot of peoples who use pony characters in their adventures (gen 4 has even his own GDR) and the good thing is ponies with the 4th gen design are somewhat accepttable, both in design and concept, even in a more seriuos fantasy world with the right changes. I even run a campaing as master using them as a race with a party who know nothing about the show and they haven’t nothing to see about them or on how they looked, but if i had presented them with this new design they would probably laugh at me.
 
Seems almost as they wanted to downgrade the show because it was getting “too realistic”, i don’t want to ramble more about this or offend anyone, but they almost seems as someone first attempt to make an OC.

I also think the designs are a little busy, especially for an animated series. So while this rendition by the artist is no doubt amazing, I’m kinda hoping this isn’t what they go with in the final show.

I don’t really dislike the designs, so much as the changing of the race they are.
 
I mean, making Fluttershy a earth pony would make far more sense than Twilight.

Not really a big fan of the whole “take these already super-popular characters and change them up a whole lot but make sure they’re basically still the same characters”…Personally I would like to see them shift focus to other characters, whether it’s in the same continuity or not. I can see why they would keep the same M6 names though- name recognition.
 
That said, pretty sure G5 is still early in its planning phase so we don’t really know what’ll happen until it does. Should be some reassurance, I guess.

They should make the next Mane Six from different races, like the Young Six.
