Description

This is the first picture of what I call Chrysalis V3 I worked on it since the last picture. It has an altered head form, ears and other tweaks in various places.

I also modified some materials, like some subtle subsurface scattering on the main material or more little grooves on the horn. Most notably did I add some fake light dispersion to the wing material. It is highly dependent on the viewing angle so it is a pretty subtle effect in this instance. A more prominent example of it is here.

There have been a lot of performance and quality of life improvements now as well, like more custom bone shapes and now really no more shapekeys.
As has become the norm I pestered StrayPrey plenty along the way.

I’m mostly unsure about the new ear shape and I don’t know if I only like them because of me starring at them for hours.

Please tell me what you think, I appreciate all feedback!

I was curious. I can imagine that adapting the cartoon biology of everyone’s favorite xenomorph-bug-horse-succubus to a model has a couple design decisions like that.

Thanks! I toyed with the idea of a paneled exoskeleton, but ultimately settled on just the typical neck indentation. I might revisit the idea though in the future.

Have you ever toyed with what her neck line looks like? It’s your model and it looks great, I was just wondering if you had tried something more realistic (like the seams in actual insect exoskeletons) or not.

Edit: Image broke, it was just an armored ground cricket for reference.
