I know right, same. Pretty much all of my friends had their own places to live and cars by junior year. I was a bit slower and didn’t buy my own condo until the end of senior year but that’s because I really wanted to save a bit extra for a bently.

I knew people irl who had an apartment by senior year, with 2 of their friends as roommates. It can be done.

I’ve personally thought of them as in their 20s in Equestria and 17-18 in EQG. It’s best that way from a fanboy waifu perspective. <3
 
Hell even before I joined the fandom years back I thought of Twilight to be around 20-21 at the season 1

I dont think its ever been established that the ponies are adults. The leaked email youre talking about mentioned something about them being young adults or teenagers. Its possible that the ponies from the show reach adulthood faster since they may lack a “highschool phase”. If you take this into account it may be possible for them to be in their teens. Its all speculation from here but thats how I see it.

I just really think it is funny when Sunset is “basically an adult” and the mane6, not the ones from EqG, are young adults. I mean, did they even think about it when they created EqG? I know they took years to confirm that, maybe ‘cause they did not want to. That leaked email where they talk about their ages gave me hint to understand why that happens.  
Oh, AJ, Fluttershy and Sunset have driver’s license, probably she and the mane6 from EqG are 16-17 and we have this:  
But last year we were told that everything is canon, basically, which is kind of weird I would say. EqG is in an alternative universe, the characters maybe look like the characters from the show but they are not the same, some of them even have different jobs. For example, we have Cheerilee, she is the mane6’s teacher and in the other hand there is Sci-twi, she needs glasses when Twilight (alicorn) does not. And that is fine, you can do that in an alternative universe and maybe they wanted a school-centered series, where the characters should appear in the school and interact there mostly. If the “school” is the “Ponyville” of EqG, how I would put ponies of all ages there and make them interact with each other? Well, it looks like their solution was turning them into teenagers or doing something that would allow them interact with the students. Here are some examples:  
In the series we know that Maud Pie already got her doctorate, since season 4 she was trying to get it, but in EqG she seems like a high school student, she not even looks older then Pinkie, and maybe she really shouldn’t. We saw her teaching other students in “School of Rock”, maybe she have a part-time job in the museum.  
Big Macintosh also looks like a normal teenager going to school, he lunches in the cafeteria, and it seems that he plays RPG with Trixie and Snips in the library.  
Snips and Snails, well, both of them in EqG seems to be in the same class as the mane6 or something like that, since they went camping with them and the other students and they are always close to the “main cast”. Also, they were with Pinkie Pie in her chemistry class, they were her lab partners, you can see that in “Text Support”.  
The CMC, people always wondered why they were in high school, they probably are older then the CMC from the series like Snips and Snails are. I think it makes sense because they study in the Canterlot High School but they are probably fourteen.  
Photo Finish, I think I do not need to explain her situation in EqG.  
Prim Hemline is probably Rarity’s boss in EqG, Rarity works on a boutique, which is kind of funny since Rarity is the boss in the series, I mean, she does not have a “boss”.  
Cranky Doodle Donkey, I think that he is also a teacher in the school. And for some reason he looks younger in EqG to me.  
They created their own rules in EqG.

I firmly believe, since she is basically an adult in her world, she had the chance to plan in advance and maybe even made money by being so resourceful even some adults would seek her help. Maybe she serves as therapist to the land owner. She is evidently good ad using her words to succeed.

The sushi game is a lot more lucrative then I once thought. Maybe I should change careers (Also she’s not real it’s a cartoon isn’t a very good way for any fictional narrative to respond to reasoned questions since the point of fiction is to create a believable world to suspend disbelief, any narrative question could be answered with ‘it’s not real’ but it’s both toxic to the audience and storytellers alike).
