As for me, it is mainly because of horses’ behaviour. They are just so sloppy and awkward, that they seem more like dogs to me.
A lot of artists in the fandom sure seem to think so.
I mean, either that or they don’t know how to draw anything other than dogs, or what their lines are actually communicating about form, or never gave five minutes to look over the anatomical differences between dogs and horses.
But that’d be just silly, right?
