Actually, this is one of our toys we’ve made, and the lines are no longer there. We hated the lines too, oh man did we hate the lines. We even told our commissioners when we found this out that we’d be re-printing them and shipping the better quality ones at no cost to them.
 
We did finally finish the last of the ugly version. This point on, they’re all smooth as Sombra and Nightmare Moon are.

If you were going to mass produce these, you would be better off making a mold. If it’s just a one off design, then yes, 3d print would probably be better.
 
Of course, you could use the 3d print to make a mold.

sixty> Yeah, but this isn’t one of those color printed ponies you can buy (for $30-40 each), it’s made with a cheaper 3D printer, meaning it’s just plastic, meaning it’s dirt cheap to produce once you own the printer.
 
Definitely cheaper than buying a molded plastic one and repainting it.
