It just hit me looking at this but this moment reminds me of a scene from Mulan. The army thought they were going to head in and beat the Huns easily, the movie just had a nice chipper song in it, then, BAM! Song abruptly ends and you see nothing but death and descruction (and they actually literally showed the dead bodies on screen).

“Silfoe’s blog has no character conflict,” they said.  
“It’s all just cute happy stuff and boring,” they said.

Why didn’t they send Dash ahead? She’s much faster than the rest of the gang so, even if she couldn’t stop whatever is happening here all by herself, at least she could perform some reconnaissance task and prevent others from running blindly into crossfire or ambush.

Cartoon dragons dabbled with when to be peaceful and when to call for war. But then again, the How to Train Your Dragon films are PG and MLP is TV-Y.

Oh. So I guess this ends with Twilight shrekking some bandits herself, despite what she said before, then feeling guilty about it. Neat!

Hmmm ok now i really hope it will be Twilight fault…maybe put Rarity in danger so Celestia will get even more angry at Twilight.

Even if the comic ends up taking Twilight’s side her plan was still to throw the ruling princess’ authority aside and act unilaterally. Her plan was also to complicate the situation by shoving a third faction into an armed standoff.

I read the hate on some of these images, people condemning Twilight’s point of view and even preemptively assuming Silfoe supports it so they can condemn Silfoe too, and I think of a couple of different things. I think that Celestia and Luna may be completely right that violence is the only answer in this case without making Twilight wrong that another way should be sought whenever possible. I think that Twilight is not a trained soldier or experienced ruler - indeed, she is explicitly the Princess of Friendship, and a young princess at that - and to expect her to react with the same maturity as Celestia or Luna is expecting too much. I think that viewing this as a situation where one side or the other must be Right is the same sort of ‘us or them’ mentality that causes so many tragedies.
 
Most significantly, though, I think that, however much you may believe the moral, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is never going to teach, “Sometimes, you just have to kill someone.”

After reading this, I hear Arthas from WoW during the Strathome dungeon run when the infinite dragonflight questioned his motives for purging the city.

There aren’t any soldiers in Equestria, Rarity. Those guys in armor are just Celestia’s harem. Why else would they all be stallions in a nation where mares are dominant?
