This week’s comic is based on The Maud Couple. So, yeah, Maud has a boyfriend now! Congrats! Mudbriar is an interesting character, a lot like Maud, but a bit snobbier, and of course obsessed with sticks instead of rocks. These two really do seem perfect for each other, and anypony who can get Maud to legitimately smile deserves mad props. It was great to see the other pie sisters again as well, but does anyone else feel like Pinkie isn’t really evolving as a character? Fluttershy asserts herself constantly, Rainbow is disciplined enough to be a Wonderbolt, Twilight can keep her cool in stressful situations, yet Pinkie is still suffering from the same abandonment issues as in Party of One. Whatever, the episode was still great, and Pinkie is still my favorite of the 6; just something I noticed is all.
So for the comic, we’ve got Pinkie confronting Mudbriar and hoping to give him a taste of his own medicine by calling him out on one of his lines from the episode with an overabundant use of his favorite word. The result is… unexpected. Not sure if completely oblivious or highly self-depricating. But at least he’s got Maud to support him. It was an interesting experience repeatedly drawing ponies as stoic as Maud and Mudbriar, and I found it amazing how a little bit of eyeshadow completely transforms their faces from looking really irritated to just looking bored. I learned something about character design today!
Hope you’ve got somepony in your life who appreciates your uniqueness as well! Looking forward to the next episode!
Pinkie Pie, Maud Pie, Mudbriar, and My Little Pony belong to Hasbro and DHX.
