It’s a “god dammit I just sat my donuts down and turn around for two minutes and this is what you do” kind of reaction with a “god dammit I can’t punish you for being adorable” after-taste
 
Honestly I think that interpretation makes this all the more cuter. They just broke in to your donuts :c

You wanna hold one?
Twilight had the perfect prank. She had perfected the age-down spell, and decided to pull a fast on on Donut Joe after he started selling a new line of donuts covered in purple “Twilight Sparkles” which really were just sprinkles, but who is keeping track? Anyway, he never asked permission, and Twilight’s name was trademarked!
So, Twilight invited the Royal sisters for a “business meeting” in which she was able to convince them to take off their anti-magic protective torcs under the auspices of examining the central gem for magic rot. Once the torcs were off, Twilight casted her magic, and then let the two toddler princesses in the back to play.
Princess Cadence showed up five minutes later, and was about to lecture Twilight on the abuses of magic for pranks, when she stopped, instead begging to see if she could babysit Lil’Tia and Woona for the next month up in the Crystal Empire. Twilight agreed, only if Cadence could perfect her memory-wipe spell by then so that when she returned the princesses, she could remove the memories of this event ever happening.
