Well where else was he going to sleep? Its not exactly a dog bed either, just a bed made for someone his size and comfort.
It would be kind of awkward for him to sleep in a huge bed for someone at the size of him and such.
At least for the time being.
Him being a dog is pretty awkward now that they finally revealed that he’s essentially a little brother to Twilight. Not even close to being a freaking pet.

Yes, yes they did.
The writers making Spike a dog in EQG honestly screwed him over big time.
It is, and he even had the nerve to complain about another user making a SunTrix edit of it.
By the time Starlight is in EQG, the only Spike the dog is a regular dog that got zapped and can talk human. He’s dimwitted and only serves as an occasional gag before doing something dog related and being removed from the scene.
Starlight would at least be able to snuggle and talk with Equestria-Spike, but Dog Spike is very dumb.

😁😁😁 I know that this infatuation is not canonical within the show but in my opinion, you could say that it would not be strange to see a relationship of peak and rarity or starlight within the show
