The reactor was damaged up there. It was nothing big. Joule could work most of the day with short breaks to charge up from a charger. She applied a little fix to be able to easily do that.
The robots are sometimes made to do some repairs themselves. But after a second defect she was deemed to be not worth professional repairs.

joule got damaged before the fall? how’d it conceal not having a working reactor, so they didn’t melt it down to scrap metal? or was its reactor damaged later?
