@Brass Melody
The funny thing is that the prequels are turning out to have aged fairly well. They’re still fairly flawed but there’s a lot of good stuff set upin thosemovies. And at least the prequels didn’t go out of their way to say that the past of the original trilogy should die coughcoughnewtrilogycoughcough.
Turns out, having a singular vision at the helm and some idea where the hell your story is actually supposed to be going helps a lot.
As opposed to the new trilogy which is just two talentless hacks trying to undo each others’ damage.
@Ihhh
No point arguing with someone who won’t listen.
You’re both the same. Stubborn, unwilling to accept that your opponent won’t change his mind. This guy realizes the futility of resistance; theirs is the future and you are the dead.
@Ihhh
Bit late, but this might explain why he didn’t listen:
“This shows how liars are rewarded: even if they tell the truth, no one believes them.”-Aesop, The Boy who Cried Wolf
He called you “chicklet” and “duckling,” and you still thought you could get to him? Maybe he was right about you. For him, that badge would make him not believe you if you said the Earth is round.
@Ihhh
It is fact. This franchise is getting fucked and its history is being desecrated. Just like with Star Trek, with Ghostbusters, with Doctor Who, with Marvel Comics, even with DC comics. But don’t let the falling sales numbers and massive outrage from long time fans get through that thick duckling brain of yours. It’s all just opinion. Continue to bleed your wallet dry for Disney as they find a way to kill Chewbacca and Lando too while Rey goes off by her lonesome and kills the empire forever because girl power beats years of training.
@Ihhh
Bitch when you’re dealing with a 4-decade old franchise, being a fan for that long makes it all the more valid when someone literally starts ghoulishly killing off iconic characters, ruining their characterization, and having the new characters basically tell the heroes and the audience that the history of this franchise needs to die. “Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. It’s the only way you’ll become what you’re meant to be.” And just fucking imagine if we still had George Lucas. Imagine if we had him or someone else take control and say “You know that Thrawn trilogy from the extended universe would make for some great sequel trilogy material.”
@Bonklefan99
Georgie didn’t sell it. He got bought out by Disney. There’s a difference. Also, yes I would trust him. I would trust the guy who added a bunch of CG crap to the special editions of Star Wars The Original Trilogy over someone who broke up Han and Leia, had Han killed by his bratty emo son, had Leia’s command of the rebels succeeded by a tumblrite who got them all but wiped entirely by the empire remnants, had Chewbacca demoted to chaperone for product placement, and had Luke FUCKING Skywalker turn into a cave neet that sips alien animal titty milk and rejects the very same teachings passed on by Yoda and Obi Wan Kenobi that lead to him becoming a Jedi Knight and overthrowing Emperor Palpatine.
@BK Leonidas
Fat chance with the kind of power Disney has. Also, can you trust the guy who made Greedo shoot first? Even if he learned from his mistakes (such as selling Star Wars) polished crap is still crap.
@Bonklefan99
Simple. Wait until George Lucas or someone who actually cares about the franchise they’re in control of take back the reins and do to this new trilogy what Toho did to the 1998 American Godzilla.
@BK Leonidas
Well, what can we do about it, besides ignoring it in our own personal headcanons? There’s that silly petition that made the rounds demanding TLJ be struck from the canon (whatever that means.) Short of us storming Disney with pitchforks and torches or trying to convince everyone else that the sequels are crap (good luck,) I can’t see this changing anytime soon. We might as well realize this isn’t the Star Wars we’re looking for, Disney can go about its business, and we have to move along.
@Bonklefan99
It would be from a certain point of view if the whole Luke Skywalker part of the story wasn’t all about him and Rey throwing away the old ways of the Jedi and it’s lessons. No one is going to look back at the new trilogy and say that it has any redeeming qualities outside of the action scenes. Spawning Jar-Jar and turning the franchise’s most iconic villain into a whiny entitled kid because of the Jedi Order’s inflated egos is one thing. Ruining and needlessly killing off the most iconic heroes of the franchise while rendering all of the experiences these characters have gone through and all of the lore and universe building entirely worthless is another thing entirely.
@BK Leonidas
If those movies aged well, who knows what future generations will say about the sequels…
Keep in mind Lucas was behind all of the first six, so the last three should be expected to be different anyway. To such an extent, though… I can understand why people are saying, “not my Star Wars.” And the prequels had the advantage of leading into an established story, while the sequels go off on a tangent (good or bad is all “from a certain point of view.”)

No harm in trying.

You know, the more you insult and talk down to people, the less likely they are to take you seriously.

Again, your opinion is not fact. Your own personal dislike of certain story decisions is not objective,

Being a dedicated fan does not make your opinion more valid.
Tell that to the old Star Wars fanbase chicklet.
Your opinions are not fact, what you want isn’t necessarily what is best.

Still, at least we’ve seen something that bad before and survived (coughPrequelscough)

Not all ducks are extreme leftists, but all extreme leftists (and rightists) are ducks.
These days it can be difficult differentiating ducks from actual leftists.

I don’t think we should be feeding the ducks…
