When Moonstone was a few months old, Twilight and Rarity decided to visit the Crystal Empire. But while they were there both Moony and Flurry Heart suddenly dissapeared, a ransom note in their place. After more than a week they finally met with the kidnappers and promply beat them and threw them in the dungeon. But that’s when they found out that sometime during the week spent there, Moonstone’s horn had been broken, leaving the reunion with a bitter undertone.
 
So this is the scene after they’ve gotten Moony back. After making sure her wounds had been treated and she’d been fed, they just spent a long time exhausedly hugging her. They’re both suffering from lack of sleep and have been running on adrenaline and panic for several days, so all they can really do is cry from happiness of having her back, and guilt over not getting to her sooner. Twilight especially is in such a state she isn’t capable fo really forming coherent speech at this point, just sobbing all over Moony of how sorry she is.
 

 
I wasn’t actually sure I wanted Moonstone’s character to be what it currently is, since her backstory and my plans for her is very… cliché. But then I realised how stupid I was being, since the reason I draw these character is because I enjoy doing so, and I find those clichés fun. And I’m drawing them for me so… be prepared to more clichés in the future.
 
The reason I’m drawing this scene in particular is because I’ve been feeling sick, and for some reason drawing other people being sad makes me feel less pity for myself. Like, yes I’m feeling like crap, but look how much worse these two have it, I guess it’s not so bad compared to that? Or maybe it’s like an outlet? I dunno, it just works. So, here, have some tears.
