If you don’t understand:  
Skipe say he is gay, and AppleBloom think: “What, all my brothers and cousins are gay, and Spike is too? To believe that all the stallions I know are in love together!”
 
It’s a simpler version of this, and my English isn’t always right, I’m French, so be indulgent please.

Only thing that stumped me was “etalon” which means stallion. Only other pony-related French words I know are “poney” and “pouliche.” They mean pony and filly, respectively.
