I never thought Angel had a conflicting personality. He’s just generally rude by nature, but still cares about Fluttershy. This sorta simplifies the character too much.

I just can’t buy the concept of Fluttershy being unable to tell two animals apart. That’s be like expecting Rarity to be unable to tell two slightly different shades of fabric apart.
