A lot of the promotional stuff for the movie kind of suggested that the two were going to interact more. But probably like the Hippogriff rescue scene (remember how Stratus Skyranger was part of promoting the movie even though he didn’t do anything in it?), it was probably one of many things that were cut from the movie.

Didnt know capperity was even a thing,those 2 barely interacted in the movie,maybe they did something more in the comics? i have no idea.
 
There are more deviants voting for capperity than the amount of pictures that ship has on derpibooru (63),no competition at all agaisnt the fandom’s #1 ship.
