If I recall, Lauren has a “no romance” rule for the main characters in the series due to the ever infamous “romantic plot tumor” so the chances of the main characters becoming romantically involved with anyone is unlikely.

This is cute but I see some problems. Fluttershy’s head is misshapen, Big Mac is small and blank flanked, and their hooves should be sinking into the snow.

That’s the problem.  
The moment the interact it’s gonna nova.  
we have had 2 seasons with no interaction between the two and the Fluttermacers are still so Driven/Passionate can you imagine what happens when they speak to each other?  
Statistically speaking the chances of them making it through another season with no interaction is extremely unlikely.  
After the Cheerimac backlash made me hate this ship I really ain’t looking forward to another Fluttermac explosion

Spike and Rarity’s relationship is the closest thing we’ve gotten so far.
